Brief detail of Mr. Govind Prasad, Chairman of Govind Prasad Humanitarian Foundation:
Govind Prasad is a most enterprising Non-Resident Indian. His life journey is reminiscent of rags to riches story. Govind Prasad was born on August 15th, 1942 at Lucknow, UP India at early age of 7-8 years he lost his father. Mother being an illiterate, he struggled alone for the survival of the family. He tried many businesses in India with a vision and passion and he was not happy with the growth and systems.
Somehow he managed in his attempt and moved to Los Angeles, USA with his family and he is been living in USA for the last four decades.
Though he was struggling to establish himself in foreign land, even during those critical times he was helping few schools, poor friends and families in India. Over the time his jewellery business at US was a great success and his company became among the top ten jewellery manufacturers, further he diversified his business into core specialization in cosmetic industry, gold mining and shipping industries.
Due to fire accident in his prime Jewellery Industry, he closed down is network in Los Angeles and moved to East Coast and again started business activities between US-Europe and India. He achieved tremendous success.
His son Pankaj Srivastava (only son) had no interest in his business and joined banking Industry as a loan officer, later he was into deep Indian Philosophy and was very much attracted to Krishna Consciousness movement and eventually he joined ISKCON and now is a Monk, practicing full time in ISKCON, New York. He is also preaching in Columbia and New York Universities. He has been appointed as Chaplin in Columbia University.
Govind Ji started visiting his home land, India, frequently and watching the hunger, disease and poverty beyond description. His heart ached to see thousands of cardboard and stick homes with little children having to take bath on street with a bucket of dirty water poured over them.
His heart melted with pity on seeing children eating the leftovers at the street bins. Earlier in the
Piercingly cold foggy mornings, he saw small barefoot ragged boys and girls picking pieces of iron, plastics, etc. from dumps to eke out their livelihood. He decided that “ I will try my best to eradicate poverty from India as much as I can by Mercy of Almighty”. He tried many times approaching Office of Prime Minister of India Dr. Man Mohan Singh, unfortunately there was no response. Then Govind Ji approached ISKCON PRESIDENT of Mumbai, Mr. Bajrahari Das to set up a network to help the poor people of India. Mr. Bajrahar introduced Govind Ji many authorities in different States of India.
Ambitions of Govind Prasad Ji:
Govind Ji who is 67 years old chairman of Govind Prasad Humanitarian Foundation (GPHF) hankers to build millions of houses for the poor people (BPL)of India and give them FREE, support senior citizens living in towns and villages. Build and renovate hundreds and thousands of schools, hospitals.
His meditation is to complete his mission before he leaves this planet. He regularly prays to ALMIGHY to empower him with energy, time and resources to complete his mission of life that is eradicating poverty in India.
